The Pöckl winery, which was founded by Albert Pöckl, has existed for over 100 years. The Pöckl family now cultivates around 40 hectares of vineyards in the Seewinkel region of Burgenland. For 30 years already, the excellent quality of the wines, which is reflected by intense fruit, elegance as well as pronounced tannins, has been awarded. The sunny climate as well as the rich soils at Lake Neusiedl create the basis for a special quality of the Pöckl wines. The Pöckl Admiral was named after a butterfly that is native to the vineyards around the winery. It is a cuvée based on Zweigelt with portions of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Tasting notes:Dark ruby garnet with violet reflections. In the nose of black berry confit, spicy, fresh orange zest. On the palate complex, of ripe cherries, orange zest and nougat. Long lasting on the finish. Grape varieties: 55% Zweigelt, 20% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc. Aging: 18 months in new barriques. Soil: Loamy gravel and sandy soil. Acidity: 5,9 g/l. Residual sugar: 1,2 g/l. Storage potential: Until 2035. This wine is excellent with red meat.
