Cedar Ridge Distillery was opened by Jeff Quint and his wife Laurie in 2005. In 2009, Kolin Brighton joined to oversee the distillation process. Only local ingredients are used, such as corn grown specifically on the farm. Metal band Slipknot collaborated with Cedar Ridge Distillery to create this new Iowa whiskey. The composition of this whiskey is 56% corn, 36% malted rye, 8% malted barley. Tasting notes:Color: Bright amber. Nose: Spicy, intense, notes of warm butter, oak, cloves, cinnamon. Taste: Fruity, juicy, notes of apple pie, buttered toast, mirabelle plums. Finish: Long lasting, creamy bananas.
