The A.H. Riise distillery is located on St. Thomas Island, an American Virgin Island in the Caribbean. Before this island became an American territory, it was a Danish colony.
Around the 1840s, the pharmacist Albert Heinrich was not only allowed to open a pharmacy but also to produce alcohol.

This spirit drink by A.H. Riise is a tribute to all the cadets of the Royal Danish Navy Academy. These can be traced back as far as 1701.
