The Highland Park distillery was founded by Magnus Eunson in 1798. Today The Edrington Group is the owner of the distillery.
It is the northernmost whisky distillery in Scotland and is located in Kirkwall on the Orkney Island mainland.
The distillery buildings of Highland Park are listed in the Scottish Heritage Lists and produce around 2.5 million litres of whisky annually.
According to the old Norse Viking sagas, there is life after death. They see death as a glorious beginning.
According to the legend, female spirits are said to descend from heaven on horseback to lead the fallen warriors and heroes to Valhalla, the Valkyrie. Valhalla is the resting place for the fallen warriors.
The packaging was designed by the artist Jim Lyngvild.
Valkyrie is the first of three special editions dedicated to Viking legends.
