Basically, one distinguishes between Izarra Vert, Izarra Jaune and Izarra 54. Izarra was first produced in 1835 by Joseph Grattau. Grattau is also the founder of the distillery. The liqueurs are stored in oak barrels and filtered again shortly before bottling. The Izarra is also known under the name "the devil in a bottle" or as "green wave". Izarra 54 has been around since 2012, with the aim of creating a new interpretation of the original recipe.Tasting notes:Colour: Bright green. Nose: fresh, peppermint, notes of saffron, plants, exotic spices. Taste: Full-bodied, notes of aniseed, mint, hints of liquorice, plums. Finish: Long lasting, balanced, fresh.
