Weingut Paul Kerschbaum is one of the leading wineries in Austria. It is located in the Blaufränkischland Horitschon, in Burgenland. The term "Blaufränkischland" is used to describe a wine-growing region, as well as Central Burgenland, where mainly the grape variety Blaufränkisch is cultivated. Paul Kerschbaum's aim is to produce powerful, long-lasting wines with a wooden touch. In 2011 Paul Kerschbaum has put the production of the wines into the hands of his son, Michael. The Blaufränkisch is the classic among Horitschoner red wines. It is not for nothing that the area is also called Blaufränkischland. The wine is stored in large oak barrels.Tasting notes:Ruby garnet with youthful reflections glass. On the nose of ripe plums, blackberry confit, figs, nougat and tobacco. On the palate versatile, after fresh cherries. Very fine tannins. Long lasting and mineral in the finish. Grape variety: 100% Blaufränkisch. Maturation: Used barriques, large oval oak barrels. Acidity: 6,0 g/l. Drinking temperature: 15°C. Closure: screw cap. The red wine harmonises very well with meat with light sauces and warm starters.
