Samuel Gelston founded the brand "Gelston's" in 1930 in Ireland. After his untimely death, Henry James Neill took over the business in 1869 and today the company is successfully run by the fifth generation of the Neill family. This particular whisky was produced in collaboration between Johnny Neill and his cousin Sam Neill. Sam Neill is a very famous actor from Northern Ireland and also a gifted winemaker. The Pinot Noir casks used for maturation are from his vineyard in New Zealand. The whisky is triple distilled and stored for 19 months in former bourbon barrels and 21 months in former Pinot Noir barrels made of French oak. Awards: - Gold in 2021 at the World Spirits Competition in San Francisco. Tasting notes:Colour: Bright amber. Nose: A little malty, slightly sweet, strawberries, tropical fruit. Taste: Rich, sweetish, spicy, blackcurrant. Finish: Long lasting, soft.
