Saumur Blanc Clos de l'Echelier 2017 BIO
A 300-year-old, walled-in plot of land with Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc on loamy soil and limestone, which only produces a few bottles. Removal in old 600l feeders from Stockinger. Glows pale gold in the glass, bottled unfiltered. First a hint of grapefruit and straw, then nashi pear, some rosemary, also citrus notes and white flowers. Has an almost hard structure on the palate, has a chalky-mineral effect. A little more tender pear, then Granny Smith apple, citrus zest, pineapple and kiwi. Crazy and building up enormous pressure on the palate. Long reverberation, very fresh and animating.
