Steinhorn Absinthe is produced in Ruppersthal, Lower Austria. Martin and Johannes Steiner have inherited the production of alcohol. Their ancestors already tried their hand at distilling schnapps and made it to the capital of the former empire with their bottlings. 'Strong and graceful like a unicorn' - Steiner brothers Martin Steiner lived in Prague during his studies, and it was during this time that he was introduced to absinthe culture. The inspiration for the Absinthe Bitter came during a walk in Ruppersthal. Here the brothers discovered the plant Artemisia, this is also known as wormwood herb. So they came up with the idea to try their hand at making Absinthe. The brothers grew wormwood in their own herb garden and dried it in the attic. Together with anise and fennel, as well as other botanicals, the absinthe bitter was created. For the Absinthe, wormwood herb from the surrounding area is used. The absinthe contains no artificial dyes, it is colored with hyssop. Tasting notes:Colour: Emerald green. Nose: Powerful, complex, herbs. Taste: anise, wormwood, fennel. Finish: Bitter and long lasting. Steinhorn Fee Absinthe Bitter is best enjoyed with ice-cold water, as a mixed drink or as a cocktail.
