Emil Ebmeter created an alcoholic drink in Appenzell in 1902, the recipe for which is still in the family and has never been changed since.
The only known fact is that the ingredients are 42 herbs and spices. These herbs are stored in the most important chamber in all of Appenzell.
Only selected people have access to the herb chamber and know what exactly is hidden behind the secret doors.
The Alpenbitter is made from 100 percent natural raw materials and without chemical ingredients.
Through a pilot project, farming families in the area now also have the chance to grow herbs for Appenzeller Alpenbitter.
Awards:
- Herbal Liqueur of the Year 2022 at the International Spirits Award.
Nose: Intense, tart, notes of herbs.
Taste: Tart, notes of herbs and spices.
Finish: Long lasting.
Appenzeller Alpenbitter is perfect as a digestif.
