The Armagnac XO Basquaise Clés des Ducs Martelée is part of a limited series of blended Armagnacs from the house of Clés des Ducs.
The terroir on which this Armagnac is produced is particularly known for its brownish sands and extends over the villages of Panjas, Maupas and Estang.
Using almost exclusively the Ugni Blanc grape variety, Clés des Ducs Armagnac XO has very little wood influence, unlike many other classic Armagnacs. Therefore, after distillation, the House of Clés des Ducs prefers to age in barrels that have been lightly to medium toasted.
This allows the rich Armagnac flavours to develop a unique contrast between the sweet and spicy notes present in Clés des Ducs Armagnacs.
Nose: Sweet, spicy.
Taste: Powerful, rich, oak aromas.
Finish: Long lasting.
An excellent digestif, but also in combination with a dessert, it can perfectly bring out its sweet-spicy aromas (at room temperature)
