In 1973, the Nonino family produced the first grappa Monovitigno from pomace of Picolit grapes. Pomace is obtained by distilling the solid components of a grape. The family enjoyed great success with the brandy and soon other distillers around the world became aware of the new product. Grappa is not only the oldest brandy in northern Italy but also the most traditional. The grappas of the Nonino family reflect the history and long tradition of the company. Nonino Riserva Antica Cuveé 5 Years Old Cask Strength is made from marc of Cabernet, Merlot and Schioppettino grapes. Distillation takes place in copper steam stills. The distillate is stored between 5-20 years in barrique barrels. Bottling is at cask strength and without the addition of colorants. Tasting notes:Color: Dark amber. Nose: Voluminous, chocolate fruit cake. Taste: Silky, strong, fruit cake, apricot, vanilla, almond pastry. Finish: Long lasting, creamy and fruity. Serve the grappa at room temperature in a balloon glass.
