After learning the craft of rum making in Cuba, he moved to the Dominican Republic, more precisely to Puerto Plata, around 1855. In this city the rums of the company Brugal still mature today.
After a few years there, he succeeded in developing a production process that ensures the consistent quality of the rum. This secret is now passed on from generation to generation.
The Brugal LEYENDA is a blend that matures for a total of 10 years in American ex-Bourbon barrels and European ex-Sherry barrels.
