Since the foundation of the Balvenie distillery there have been hardly any changes; the Single Malts are still produced in the traditional way. The Balvenie, with its sister distillery Glenfiddich, is still independent and family owned by its founders. The Balvenie 21 Years Old Portwood finish matures for 21 years in bourbon barrels. After that, this whisky gets a Portwood Cask Finish. Balvenie's Malt Master checks the result montlach until bottling.
