Caol Ila [Cull Eela] is Gaelic for "The Sound of Islay", the strait that separates the Hebridean islands of Islay and Jura.
Somewhat hidden on the rugged east coast, the islanders have been making fine smoky whiskies there since 1846.
The barley used is still malted in Port Ellen, the pure spring water comes from the nearby Loch Nam Ban limestone.

The Caol Ila 12 Years Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky matures for 12 years in oak casks.

Nose: Fresh, smoky, oily, sea air, peppermint.
Taste: Smoky, spicy, notes of cigars, smoked ham.
Finish: Long lasting, peppery, sweet smoke.
